La carrera por los máximos galardones de la TV ha empezado. La Academia de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión compartió hace pocos días la lista de los nominados a las 69 edición de los Premios Primetime Emmy que serán entregados el próximo domingo 17 de septiembre en una ceremonia celebrada en el Microsoft Theater de Los Angeles, California. La gala será transmitida en vivo en Estados Unidos por la cadena de televisión CBS y conducida por Stephen Colbert.
No es sorpresa que este año, HBO y Netflix encabecen las nominaciones con sus series y películas originales. La serie de ciencia ficción Westworld y el éxito de la plataforma de streaming Stranger Things obtuvieron la mayor cantidad de postulaciones para el certamen.
En Mejor serie de Drama —una de las más importantes— se alzaron nuevas ficciones como The Handmaid's Tale y This is Us. Sin embargo, con la ausencia de Game of Thrones en la competencia, se enfrentan codo a codo programas de la plataforma como The Crown, Stranger Things y House of Cards.
En las categorías de actuación, los protagonistas de House of Cards, Kevin Spacey y Robin Wright, postulan nuevamente al premio de Mejores actores de Drama. En la categoría femenina de este género también compiten Viola Davis (How to Get Away with a Murder, Claire Foy (The Crown), Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid's Tale), Keri Russell (The Americans) y Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld). Mientras que Spacey peleará la estatuilla con Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), Matthew Rhys (The Americans), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us) y contra el legendario Anthony Hopkins (Westworld).
Ante la ausencia de Games of Thrones, muchos ven una gran oportunidad para llevarse la estatuilla a casa. HBO obtuvo 110 nominaciones, mientras que Netflix 91, dejando atrás a NBC (60), FX Networks (54) y a ABC (34).
