Entre estrictos protocolos y medidas de seguridad, esta noche la ceremonia de entrega de los Premios de la Academia 2021 se llevará a cabo desde distintos escenarios y con una producción muy especial.
Refrescando la lisa de nominamos este año, Mank de David Fincher resultó ser el gran ganador en la carrera por la estatuilla dorada. La historia en blanco y negro del guionista de Citizen Kane, Herman Mankiewicz, obtuvo 10 nominaciones, incluidas las de Mejor Película, Mejor Director, Mejor Actor, Mejor Actriz de Reparto y más. Más allá de eso, los nombres se distribuyeron de manera bastante uniforme entre los grandes éxitos de la temporada de premios 'The Trial of the Chicago 7', 'Minari', 'Judas and the Black Messiah', 'Nomadland', 'The Father', 'Promising Young Woman' y, con varias nominaciones sorpresa de bienvenida, 'Sound of Metal'.
Se hizo historia en la categoría de Mejor Director, con dos mujeres nominadas para el premio por primera vez: Chloé Zhao ('Nomadland') y Emerald Fennell ('Promising Young Woman'). Por otra parte, Yuh-jung Youn de Minari se convirtió en la primera actriz coreana en ser nominada a un Oscar y Glenn Close, también nominada a Mejor Actriz de Reparto, ahora tiene ocho nominaciones a su nombre, uniéndose a las filas de Denzel Washington, Marlon Brando, y Peter O'Toole.
